This remake of telugu super hit, OKKADU, was predicted to be a hit in Tamil too. Vijay and Dharani combine have recreated the telugu magic and this movie is a definite super hit. Vijay (He makes his role so simple and perfect) is a local youth, with no big ambitions in life. His aim is to make big in Kabaddi. The initial scene where he takes the local team, is a perfect start for the movie. Vijay roams with his friends, plays Kaddbai matches, gets humiliated by his Police father (Aashish Vidyarthi), teases his sister and so on. The initial scenes bring us perfectly into the movie. Vijay now leaves to Madurai, for a kabaddi match and here starts the action. Prakash Raj (has done an excellent role as a love struck villain), a big Dada in Madurai, is in love with Trisha (cute, modest performance, no exaggerations, her emotions towards the climax, when Vijay portrays as if he is not so interested is superb). Prakash Raj, kills Trisha's brothers who are against his endeavors. Trisha's father, asks her to leave to chennai, to board a flight to USA and stay with his elder brother, While trying to escape, she gets caught by PrakashRaj. Vijay comes to her rescue. What follows is 120 minutes of high voltage drama. The scene where Vijay threatens to kill Trisha and finally makes PrakashRaj run along with his car has been shot very well. How Vijay saves Trisha form Prakash Raj forms the rest of the movie. Meanwhile Vijay wins the National Kabaddi Championship. Some superb fights, fast paced action, good songs, makes one get glued to the movie. The director hasnt attempted anything different, its a complete remake of the Telugu Original. The music by Vidyasagar is a big asset for the movie. The songs, "Arjunar Villu", "Kokkara Kokkara ko" and "Appadi Podu.. Podu" will have audiences on their feet. Anuradha Sriram's voice modulation "Appadi Podu" song has definitely helped the song to be one of the biggest hit songs of this year. The final fight between Vijay and PrakashRaj, one might feel is a bit stretched. The police force not being able to do anything with PrakashRaj's actions, is a bit too much. The petty fights between Vijay and his sister, is cute to watch. The first one on one encounter between Vijay and PrakashRaj is perfect. The movie is sure to raise Vijay's mass base. Ghilli as the byline goes is a Sure Shot Hit.
