M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi(.5/5)
: Ravi & Asin
Music: Srikanth Deva
Direction: M Raja
Remark: Kumaran - An entertaining son

The movie is an in and out remake of Telugu hit, Amma Naana O Tamil Ammayi. The movie comes from the same family team that did Jeyam. The protagonist of the movie is Ravi (a phenomenal improvement to the Ravi, we saw in Jeyam. The kind of efforts he has taken in action sequences is great, he has improved on his acting skills too). The other person who needs significant mention is Nadhiya (she still looks 25….can easily pass of a heroine…wonder why she has chosen to act as a mother). Nadhiya and her little son(Ravi) start a life in Chennai. She lives away from her husband and Ravi from childhood, hates his father for deserting them The first 1 hour is full of fun and frolic, with Nadhiya and Ravi, making a wonderful mother-son combination. Ravi is an upcoming Kick Boxer. In Comes our heroine, Aasin (pretty faced, plays her role neatly with a wonderful combination of Glamour and performance). As expected, Ravi and Aasin initially fight and then start loving each other. Vivek does his stereotype comedy of questioning some of our practices (We laugh for some but the rest are gross). When Nadhiya dies of an heart attack, she tells Ravi that his father is none other than the famous Kick Boxer, PrakashRaj (still in Ghilli hang over, nothing special, infact is irritating at some times), who is in Malaysia. Nadhiya asks Ravi to go and live with his father. Ravi leaves for Malaysia, meets his father and joins his family(wife Ishwarya and one daughter). Ravi often accuses his father for his sufferings, says he is there only coz he promised his mother to be with the father. Prakash Raj grooms a disciple for the championship but this person deserts Prakash. Now, Ravi gets into act and participates in the competition to salvage his father's pride. The climax is Kick Boxing fight between Ravi and the villain. The movie is a grand masala, filled with sentiments, comedy, fast songs, action etc. The major asset is the wonderful First Half which keeps the audience involved. The music by Srikanth Deva is non listenable except for one song (his dad used to manage to re-create the best of tamil and other world music, the son need to learn this trick of the trade). The song "Chennai Senthamizh" is good to watch. There are some unwanted sentiment scenes in the last 30 minutes which could have been avoided. Certainly this movie has good entertainment value. Kumaran - a good son.
