The film has created a lot of expectancy among viewers, as it is coming after two big hits of Vijay, THIRUMALAI and GHILLI. Producer turned Director Maadesh should have guessed it right earlier and strained to polish the film. Though an average film, two big drawbacks - heroine Rakshitha and a gripping screenplay. Vijay has got a shop in the vegatable market. His mother Seetha and two sisters are his dependants. Vadivelu is Vijay's Assistant. Rakshitha a research student conducts research on the day today life of the market. In a fight between Vijay and Rajkapoor (a cut throat interest monger), the villainous Rajkapoor gets beaten blue. Rakshitha seeing Vijay's fire in fighting for justice, falls in love with him. In the meantime Vijay fights with a rich man's son, who had cheated his sister. The rich man's son sends his henchman, the police inspector to arrest Vijay., Soon as the inspector sees Vijay, he salutes him. This was seen by Seetha and she gets to know about Vijay. She thinks he was responsible for her daughter, Sonia Agarwal's death and shoots him. Only now, the fact that Seetha is not Vijay's own mother is made known to the audience. The flash back starts, in that Vijay as collector of Madurai, works against anti-social elements with a definite firmness. His assistant is Sonia Agarwal. She helps Vijay in total confidence. In the meantime there is a clash between the fierceful Pasupathy and Vijay. In that Sonia Agarwal is killed. Vijay is charged that he had only murdered Sonia Agarwal. So to help and save Sonia's family Vijay remakes him up as a vegetable vendor, and joins the family consisting of mother Seetha and two younger sisters. Flash back comes to an end. After this how Vijay destroys Pasupathy, forms the rest of the story. Director Madesh was totally dependent on Vijay. Everywhere it is Vijay, Vijay only Vijay. At the same time he has not missed to add commercial attractions. Sonia Agarwal is beauty personified. Rakshitha walks around like a meat loaf. Teja Sri who has been added for the extra glamour could have easily replaced her. When everyone is made to believe Vijay is Seetha's own son, the director has not clearly established how Vijay joined their family and leaves a vacuum there. Also, Seetha not knowing who killed her daughter is a big directorial flaw. Similarly when Vijay goes to torch the bus in the midst of the public, the 'Bundh' gets cancelled is just a humbug. Vijay has done both the roles well but he keeps repeating "This is not a warning, it is an order" and frustrates us. 'Machchan Peru Madurey', 'Bambarau Kannu' and 'Yellantha Pazham' are super kuthu songs and 'Kandein Kandein' is a good melody. Vidyasagar and Vijay combination is working well. Pasupathy who was monotonous in recent films is better in this film. Madurey is a mass appeal film and the mass is Vijay's fans only.
