The movie has been in the lime light for the last 6 months, starting with reports of trouble chimbu has caused to jyothika and also because of mandhira bedi and yana gupta being a part of the movie. There were posters everywhere at constant intervals right from the start of the poja. Since none of these publicities created any over expectation, the first reaction from anyone who watches this movie will be a WOW! Manamadhan is our Little Super Star(?!) Chimbu (woooooooooooooow for the first time in his cine career, what an effort this kid has given, he has lived as a real Manmadhan in this movie. His character differentiation for the dual role is superb. His body language, his acting effort, dancing effort, his story, screenplay and direction are really commendable). It is an in and out Chimbu film. The director Muruhan is a dummy and the film is actually directed by Chimbu. Chimbu, is a TomBoy, a Seducer, a Romeo, his first interaction with MandireBedi (hmmmmmmmm) is great. The lengthy dialogue that he speaks (reminiscent of Kamal in Guna) to her is really good…. "hey Chimbu where did u hide this talent so far?" The song that follows with Madira is good too (great pictuarisation and editing). Chimbu, now meets Jyothika(well nothing special but the only satisfaction, she doesnt look old for Chimbu). Jyothika, after few cat fights, feels for Chimbu. We see Chimbu, often meeting some sexy babes in Night Clubs, in CoffeShops, in Train Journey, road side travel, etc.; where he seduces them into the obvious. The scenes are quiet interesting and it doesnt leave an irritating effect. Everytime, we see him giving a psychotic laugh as he hugs them, with blood coming out of his nose(we think abt. kamal in Sigapu Rojakal). What is Chimbu upto?? that is the suspense, which is built up beautifully. Goundamani(a huge roar when he comes on the screen, still has got the charm, but don't know why, he is not being utilised now a days) plays the role of Chimbu's uncle. Police too search for the missing girls (chimbu kills the girls he seduces, stores the ash in a Drainage Storeroom). As we get perfectly gelled to the movie, Jyothika one night finds out Chimbu hanging out with a girl, only to find that she is reported missing next day. She informs police and Chimbu is arrested. In the interrogation, Chimbu gives a twist. He says, his younger brother(his look alike) is the one who is doing all the murders. Now starts the flashback, the younger chimbu, joins an Engineering College, here he falls in love with SindhuTolani (extremely good looking) and she too reciprocates(the FLAME Love sentiment scene is good, reminds us of our school days). When Chimbu finds her in bed with another classmate and understands that she is playing around with him, he kills her and the guy seen with her. He turns into a psycho and starts killing women. End of flashback. When it is proved that Chimbu has a look alike brother and the other incidents have happened, Chimbu is realeased and the police start searching for his younger brother. Then comes another unexpected twist and the movie ends. The kind of effort chimbu has taken in building the screenplay, deserves appreciation coz though the movie is not an Action film, it still keeps us engaged through out, no scene leaves us stretched. Lollu Sabha fame Santhanam, comes as the friend of younger chimbu and provides the required laughter in the second half. Another big asset for the movie is YuvanShankarRaja. One can't single out any one song, coz all the songs are great to watch. The background score is amazing too. The movie has a rich and enchanting, visual effect. Photography is a kalakkal too. The acting of Chimbu in the scene where he murders Sindhu Tolani and the way he expresses his Psychotic intentions to his elder brother, is superb. The director Murugan, was just a dummy (my friend Srinath was an assistant director in this film and may direct a Chimbu film in 2005). The movie is a sure hit and will really help Chimbu establish himself. Manmadhan will seduce many.
